{Guest Post} Beautify: the Basics

Hello lovely ladies!!!! Its Shannon here, I am so pumped about helping Jillian with her AMAZBALLS blog and was honored when she asked me to help with the “beauty” section.  So state tuned for all things beauty, make-up, Shannon’s tips & tricks and make-up hauls.

Let me start out by saying I LOVE MAKE-UP!  I have been experimenting with make-up since I was a little girl watching my mom get ready.  She always let me put on a little blush and lip gloss and if I was really lucky some mascara!  I am fascinated by the way make-up can truly transform the way you look and FEEL!  So when Jillian asked me to help her I knew right away where I wanted to start… with the BASICS {gotta take care of that skin so you can keep playing with all that fun make-up!}  So the basics:  face wash, day & night moisturizers and eye creams.  So lets talk products, here are a few of my current favs:

NATURAL IS BETTER!  DUH right?!  As some of you know I have been living in California for the last year and the nutty crunchy hippy stuff has totally rubbed off on me.  I made the switch to the all natural face wash, eye cream and day/night creams of BURT’S BEES.

Step One: Wash it up

Ok so the amazingness of the citrus daily facial scrub is the best and I mean best daily facial scrub I have ever used… it has orange, grapefruit, ground almonds, oats and pecans. It smells so good you want to eat it!!! Once you have cleaned your face with it you feel so fresh and so clean clean!

Step Two: Lube it up {and eye cream}

Next on the list lube your face with the day or night cream.  Did you know that if you slather {yes slather} your face with night cream when you go to bed at night you will actually wake up looking younger! Yes ladies YOUNGER! All the yumminess in the night creams revitalize your skin and you wake up looking more awake & dewy!  Add a little eye cream at night to make your dark circles & puffiness disappear!  Totally crazy how a little moisturizer can do this but it is amazing!

I have been using the Radiance Night Crème, Radiance Day Lotion SPF 15, Radiance Eye Crème. LOVE THEM!!

Fun Fact: How many times have you seen girls with the “ghost face” you know the bright white face and dark body?!  SPF in your moisture and make up is a must for protecting your skin but not so good for pictures.  It reflects light {like the sun – duh} and makes your face look white! So if know your going to be taking pictures, skip the SPF.  {the only time you will ever hear me say that}

Remember Make-up is fun so always experiment! {and take care of your skin!!}

Shannon
