What a year!

It has been a crazy year!!  So many wonderful things all packed into what seemed like one of the fastest years ever!  You know the old saying “time flies when you are having fun”…well I think that has proven to be true this year.  It has been a bit of a roller coaster, not always rolling with the good times.  But all has happened for a reason and has brought us to where we are today.

2012 - 1

I have been blessed with many things, one of which is that I’ve been able to ramble on about some very random things over this past year and YOU have encouraged me to keep on!  When I published the very first post I honestly didn’t think for a second that anyone would actually read it!!  The fact that a couple hundred of you stop by each day is humbling, flattering and exciting!  What I love most is the possibility that there might be something posted on HSE that inspires and effects just one person out there.  In fact, the most viewed post in the history of the blog is the post on “Self Forgiveness“!  Something I hope we all have been able to practice lately.

Thru this blog I’ve met some really awesome people and been able to be apart of other fabulous groups.  I have started working with the lovely Linda from Burlap+Blue, whose crafting and design blog is so fantastic!!!  She is so sweet and such a joy to work with {be sure to pop over to her blog and add it to your daily reader!!}  I’ve also been participating in the monthly Foodie Penpal club, which is SUCH A BLAST!!  It’s so fun meeting other food lovers out there and sharing with them.  If you are not a part of the Foodie Penpal program yet {your crazy} and MUST check it out!!  Last but certainly not least I’ve been accepted into Recipe Redux, a group of health conscious, food loving bloggers that participate in monthly challenges to stomp out the notion that healthy food doesn’t taste good.  {Check out my posts for Quinoa Mac n’ cheese & Roasted Butternut Squash…they will NOT disappoint!}

Huge hugs and thank you goes out to my favorite ladies that have contributed to HSE this year {you guys rock…and thank you thank you thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to share!!}  and of course lots of love to the generous vendors that have hosted giveaways this year!!  Be sure to check up with Goodbelly, Rayna Lane, Gina Creates, Cupcake Social and Rylie Caldwell Designs!  {they are all amazing!!}

2012 - 2

One last GIANT thank you.  Thank you for allowing me to share a bit of my life with you.  Thank you for supporting me in this crazy endeavor and for staying tuned for more to come.  Thank you for keeping an open mind and for sharing the love!

May the next year bring you peace, love and joy!!

Namaste & Thank you

Monday Mantra: in Love

It’s with a sad heart that we kick off this week.  There are no words.  We live in a world of good and evil.  A world were things happen that stun us all.  I believe now more then ever we need to spend our days filling our hearts with love and sharing that love with those around us.  The more love we can spread in this world the stronger good will become.  The more strength we will all gain against those that try to hurt us.  So go out into the world this week and focus your intentions on doing all things with love.  Share the positive and in turn we will be rewarded with love.  With good.

Fabulous Find: wood bowl

***And the winner is…Congrats to Victoria S for winning the custom piece of artwork from Rylie Caldwell Designs!!  Victoria please contact Her Split Ends to claim your prize!!

I’m going to come out and admit it…I’m a total thrifting junky! I love finding random, unnoticed pieces with hidden potential and turning them into something fabulous!  From furniture and artwork, to lamps and decorative accessories…that place is like a gold mine IF you have the patience!  This recent find just needed a quick & easy fix-me-up to return it to its better then original glory.

I picked up these clover shaped wood bowls at my local goodwill not knowing exactly what to do with them.  After a quick scan of my paint supply options…the Yellow was where its at.  My original plan was to paint them completely…but the balance of the bright yellow and the warmth of the wood were just too fabulous to pass up!  With a quick little sanding and a somewhat steady paint brush hand…they have been transformed!

Monday Mantra: unconditional

Happy Monday to ya.  What a lovely {and warm} weekend here in Atlanta!  This weather is wacky…doesn’t not feel like we should be decorating and shopping for Christmas!!  We had a busy busy weekend full of wonderful holiday parties, catching up with old friends and making new friends.  Lots going on around here these days!!  Its easy this time of year to get wrapped up in the crazy schedules, the decorating and the gift shopping.  But most important is that we remember it’s a time to share joy with those around you.

Monday Mantra: grow

Happy Monday to ya!  Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  The weather here in Georgia is like fall…It was 70 degrees yesterday!?!?!  Not that I’m complaining, but it makes Christmas shopping and decorating feel weird.  Speaking of that…its only 3 weeks til Christmas {aughghgh} time to get in full gear!!  In the middle of all of the craziness and the loveliness of this season, remember to keep growing.  Keep growing as a person and share that growth and love with those around you.

you will never grow.”
